Nowadays, more and more people are stressed, agendas are filled with appointments. For all those who want to escape from their daily routine, Easter is the solution. Despite the actual crisis, we are still able to travel and have nice holidays. Here are some ideas in order to help you make your choice. City breaks have also become popular because they are so easy to fit into our busy lives. A short break can be taken with minimun disruption on work or family. Being able to fit more breaks to allow travellers to experience more of the very best European cities and who could resist the temptation! The shopping, sights, restaurants and hotels of the best cities are all within easy reach.
Easter is an excellent time to visit city break favourites like Venise and Amsterdam, with plenty of visitors creating an enjoyable lively atmosphere. Religious celebrations make Easter weekend breaks particularly memorable in Rome and Seville. Choosing beautiful,lesser-known cities like Lille,Bruges, Brussels, Vienna and Antwerp can help avoid the biggest Easter city break crowds. For the more romantic, places like Paris, probably topping the list. Exciting Easter weekend breaks in Berlin, Madrid, New York and London are a paradise for lovers of live music, theatre and exhibitions. Those looking for sun, should consider southern European destinations like Malaga, Milan, Palermo and Palma de Mallorca. For the adventurous people, an atonishing flight to Istanbul and Marrakech or even a fly off to Las Vegas or Dubai – for the biggest wallets!
For the more organised ones, booking everything in advance can make them feel relaxed. A weekend to London, two days, one night, a 3 star hotel with breakfast included for less than 200 euros. Closer destinations are possible, Toulouse, only two hours away form the Atlantic coast, places like Capbreton, Hossegor, Biarritz and Bayonne are perfect for surfing amateurs.
The citizens who want to get some peace away form the trafic, the noise, the pollution they can take refuge into country farms. There they can enjoy nature, take some breath fresh air, walk and just appreciate the calm atmosphere and admire the sunset with his wonderful colors.
Visits to museums, exhibitions, unusual places in Toulouse are a must. Walks along the river Garonne, admiring the architecture, discovering bars, restaurants are simple but a nice break, forgetting all the daily problems for a while.Some must in the « pink city »:
- The Musée des Augutins is the fine Arts Museum of the Toulouse, the museum is set in a 14th century Augustine Monastery. The museum is famous for its romanesque sculpture, but it also houses works by Delacroix, Toulouse-Lautrec and artists from Toulouse and surrounding area. Entrance prices: permanent collection - 3 euros, free for students less than 18 years old and each first sunday of the month.
- Natural History Museum Toulouse consists in over two and a half million pieces, it takes its visitors to a walk through history, back to a time when giant flying reptiles ruled the skies. Museum open every day. Entry is free! (there is a charge for temporary exhibitions)
- Cité de l'Espace is a space museum including a large park with a 55 metre high model rocket, a model of the MIR space station and a variety of interactive exhibitions exploring the space exploration themes.The musem is to the East of the city center. Entrance price: 19.50 Euros.
