FREEDOM IS CONTAGIOUS

To take issue is the questioning of a fact, or an opinion. The uprising of people is the armed consequence of a contestation movement, a revolt against the power in position. In France, for example, the Declaration of Human Rights and Citizen expresses in its article 2 the right of resistance for the oppression among four " natural and imprescriptible rights of the man ".

A run-up of contesting appeared a few days ago in the Arabic world. Nobody could plan these revolutionary movements which propagated in North Africa. The peoples lift up themselves for simple reasons: they want to be able to live with dignity in a less authoritarian regime, which would respect the freedom of expression and the multiparty system. In other words, they wish a fast passage to the democracy.

Everything to begin in Tunisia when the police forbids a man to sell vegetables, his only source of income. By a gesture of despair, he set himself on fire. It is further to this act that the population almost everywhere in the country lifted up itself to denounce the bad conditions of life in which it lived ; A collective awareness as massive as unexpected. It has had direct consequence on the flight of the Tunisian president Ben Ali become unwanted in his country.

More surprising still, this revolution of jasmine gives ideas to the nearby countries : Such an epidemic, the wave of contesting propagates little by little in Algeria, but also Yemen and Egypt.

The authority of the leaders of these countries is questioned and the will of these peoples to aim towards democratic regimes seem inevitable henceforth.

Poverty, unemployment, frustration, censorship, many words can explain these movements. Never I would have thought assisted such a will of change in these Arab countries managed by totalitarian, strong and little changeable powers. It is historic ; let us hope simply that these democratic run-ups will succeed on of real changes for these peoples for such a long time oppressed.
