How to make a stereotype of a subjective article.
Iran crisis frightens the wide world. Press treats this subject superficially. Between causes and consequences, the choice of the handling of the topic is ready-made. The causes are choosen to the expense of the consequences (too difficult, and too long to explain).
At first sight, an article seems to be impartial when it talks about international politics. In the other hand, in facts, it is not always the case. The reason is that every journalist has its own point of view depending on their own education and cultural background. An eastern journalist will never have the same angle than an occidental one.
Indeed in the Telegraph's article dated 10th Feb 2010 dealing with the Iranian crisis shows this journalistic phenomenon. Let's clarify our statement. This geopolitical problem concerns as much the occidental states as the eastern countries. Iran is a great nation which helps in the stabilization of the Middle East. Whatever its polity. This article hides this obviousness.
Telegraph which is a British newspaper, treats the subject with an Americano-British gaze – The same thing could be applied to an Isrealian newspaper. In the article untitled 'Barack Obama flags 'significant' sanctions against Iran' the author give us an unilateral impression in the dealing of this conflict. We do not know the stand point of the other six countries mentionned in the written article. There are no quotes of heads of states to confirm their participations. Yet, we know that, Obama is not the only one who wants to sanction this country.
Moreover, this article is too Obama-centered. Even though it is about an Obama's declaration the iranian gaze is neglected. Only some sentences like : 'Iran maintains the enrichment is purely for civilian energy purposes'. The others accuse Iran. Where are the iranian words? Generally, USA is the nice guy, Iran, is the bad one. The manichaeism good/bad keeps to nourish our judgement. Do you really think that Iran wants nuclear technology just to annoy the rest of the world? Those agressive publics speaking are proofs of identity reflex. It is the only Persian country in a arabic world. Obama said « What we are going to be working on over the next several weeks is developing a significant regime of sanctions that will indicate to them how isolated they are from the international community as a whole ». It confirms that Iran is isolated and that they are determined to keep on isolating it. The threat of the nuclear weapon is just a consequence of the problem (an identitary problem), and not the cause (as the USA think).
USA (US bases) and NATO (like Turkey) are surrounding Iran.
