The awakening of modern folk

impression ever.

This one is modestly called She and Him , it is composed by Zooey Deschanel and Matt Ward and drives the idea of an ambitious new kind of indie folk. She plays banjo,piano and sings . Ans the leader, Him plays guitar and produces the show. Adding to the duo, talented session musicians like Rachel Blumberg (drums), Mike Mogis (pedal steel guitar,mandolin), and Mike Coykendall ( bass, guitar).

After a surprising « Volume One », greeted by Paste magazine for the best
album 2008, the group recently announced the coming out of « Volume Two » on spring 2010.
The image they diffuse, as well as the undefined taste of unaccomplishment are left behind: a more Professionnal touch is now given, clearing the atmosphere, reaching to show the real potential of their creativity.Obviously, She and Him want to let us feel their quest for simplicity, but still the quality of sound and the global idea are attractive, both fresh and passionate.The new album was recorded in Portland and Los Angeles over the past year and a half. The dark shades only proposed in the first draft are well defined in « Volume Two », as the sparkles of light are more intense, which increases the contrasts of moods exposed along the tracks. The work is more complete. « Volume One » was essentially recorded in a vacuum free of outside pressure and expectations, an intimity the duo tried to recreate for the second
album.
After almost two years of balancing their recording sessions and nationwide touring with their other ambitions (M. Ward's solo work and Deschanel's actress obligations ), both are still excited by their project and find reasons to enjoy the unlikely partnership they live. Learning about each other have built the music they now try to expulse, because Matt becomes a virtuoso anytime he picks up a string instrument, and Zooey writes oftenly with no need of encouragement. Because they have faith in what they are able to create, the study of feelings in life have a much more instinctive taste in various tracks.
Unfortunately, She's new husband Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard shall not either appear or contribute to the album. While waiting for an official release date for « Volume Two », some related works can be worth it to check out. We may proposeMonsters of folk (Matt Ward's other band), Noah and the Whale, Neutral Milk Hotel and Andrew Bird's Bowl of
Fire, which are yet must knowm and may be easier to afford.
