A company in the crisis.

Today our country is in a crisis. Last week, I meet a craftsman taxi. He has been doing this job for 30 years and nowadays, he suffers from this crisis. With him, will see the consequences of it. How a little compagny can get through its problems and have hope for the future...

• Since how long are you craftsman taxi? What was the evolution of your company?

I have possessed this company for 30 years. I began only with a car, and I knew an evolution in tooth of saw. We have never insured our cash desk to favorised a better developement of the company. With hindsight, I realized that it was a mistake.

Today, I have only 4 cars and no employees.

• How do you feel the effects of the crisis? What were the difficulties during this year of 2008?

In the first place there is the increase of the diesel oil price. Furthermore we have contracts in the year, and we cannot echo this increase on the prices of our customers. To finish, the crisis giving no more flexibility to the credits of banks, that's why the company saw itself weakened. That's why I have to dismiss 3 from my employees.

• After all it, where from come to you the strength to continue? Have you already thought of dropping everything?

The current situation, does no allow me to sell my company to a correct price, and nevertheless, I like my job.

Furthermore, I need to make my family live. It gives me the strength to continue.

• If you had the chance to begin again everything, would you even make the same choices?

To begin again everything in the company?

We always say, if I was 20 years old less and to know what I know, I would modify my actions.

• Are you optimistic as regards to the future?

In a near future, no. But in a distant future, things can only improve!

• How's that?

For the company, we have to be carefull until March, because of the redundancy.

For example: 3 dismissed persons, of whom 2 with 10 years of seniority is equal to 27 000 euros of

compensation.

• And later?

What will be will be. Inch alla.
