Did French sulk politics?
When we look at the abstention rate of the recent regional elections (last week-end 53,63%), we could say it was worse than absenteeism in school (it depends on the school...).
If pupils feel less and less concerned by class, it's the same for citizens respecting to politics. It's a strange comparision also disturbing in both cases.
The regional elections took a blow with 23,5 million French people who didn't vote, that's to say: 53,63%; whereas it was 39,1 % for the previous regional elections in 2004, against 42,3% in 1998. So the abstention rate for this year is the most frightening... Why frightening? Because people don't understand that not voting promotes the National Front -extreme right-. That's why the abstention caused its comeback with 11,74% .
Perhaps its resurgence is due to the disappointment of the popular social class as regards the Nicolas Sakozy's policy (according to Le Monde). Moreover, recent studies (by Sciences Po) indicate a real mistrust toward politics.
What can we expect for the second turn of the elections next Sunday?
