When Alistair Darling announces the 2010 budget, a lot of people wonder about the amount intended for education. Indeed, in the last days, the English press seems to worry about the young students' futures.

The Telegraph, the Independent and the Guardian dedicated their headnews to the traditional university hall of residence 's decline. Students are increasingly shunning traditionnal halls of residence in favour of penthouse-style flats with en suite rooms, broadband and gym membership, according to researches. They are ready to pay up to £ 1,400 a month to access luxury appartments. Academics have suggested that many students have become immune to the debt. But the real question is why do they want to escape the university campuses ? Is it linked to the quality of the students' rooms or just a fashion?

Another piece of news worries the press, five members of staff have today been suspended at a school criticised at an inquest after the death of an 11-year-old boy who suffered from an asthma attack in class. Sam Linton died because of the neglect of the Offerton High School, in Stockport, "significantly contributed" to his death, the inquest jury ruled. Another question is asked, where are funds intended for the security of the school. The day before the general 2010 election , it's time to worry about education that is declining.
